Statement Regarding: RoHS & WEEE Compliance of ZeroLead® Solder Paste

Ameritronics® hereby confirms that our product ZeroLead® ZLSP-10CC, a lead-free solder paste, complies with the latest RoHS regulations. Further, Ameritronics confirms that the product, ZeroLead® ZLSP-10CC, does not contain the following hazardous metals and / or substances:  mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl PBB, polybrominated diphenyl ether PBDE. Our ZeroLead® ZLSP-10CC meets the lowest acceptable levels for lead (<1000ppm) and cadmium (<100ppm) as established by the European Directives 2002/96/EC (WEEE) and 2002/95/EC (RoHS).

A Little Historical Perspective: Everyone knows that solder paste has long been the favorite for high volume reflow in PCB manufacturing for years. So why is it that it never made a popular transition to the electronic bench where prototyping, low volume production, and rework are performed daily? Essentially there were two reasons: 1.) Use of paste with old technology such as contact soldering irons was problematic, if not simply prohibitive; and 2.) Solder paste or cream typical of high volume production processes had a very short shelf life due to the flux/sphere ratios which were necessary for conveyor oven reflow systems.

Recognizing the obvious, that superior solder joints are achieved with solder paste over solder wire (especially with Surface Mount Devices), we set out to develop a No Clean Solder Paste with a flux/sphere ratio that would be specifically targeted for the electronic bench top and that would work harmoniously with a low velocity, pin-pointed and precision Non-Contact Hot Air Pencil in conjunction with a preheated substrate assembly (For more details, and to see just how easy the process is, see our Color pictorial process page "Quality SMD Soldering Made Easy at the Bench" and our Technical Papers. In so doing, the processes, materials and thermal profiles at the individual electronic work bench could now reflect those successfully utilized on the high volume production floor...and best of all, would yield showcase solder joints replete with shiny fillets on the toes, heels, and sides of the component's leads at the pad interface. Our proprietary, lead-free formulation, ZeroLead® Solder Paste, is the result of years of research and extensive laboratory and field testing.

This ZeroLead® Solder Paste is a distinctive tin, silver and copper formulation from most all other pastes/creams marketed today. It is a low residue, no clean paste with a flux/sphere ratio that makes it ideal for the bench top. In addition, it is VOC free, Halide free, Non-hygroscopic, meet or exceeds Bellcore specifications, is compliant with J-STD-004, J-STD-004, J-STD-0056 and IPC-TM-650.)

This ZeroLead® Solder Paste ZLSP-10CC. is the very same paste we have demonstrated at electronic trade expositions across the country to the delight of engineers, technicians and quality personnel. It is the solder paste recommended for use with the award winning Zephyrtronics Low Temp AirBath Comprehensive Bench Top System which includes the ZT-1000 AirBaths for proper thermal ramping and preheating along with the ZT-2-MIL Hot Air Pencil for non-contact solder reflow.
