It's important to point out that ZeroLead® Solder Paste complies with the European Union's RoHS Directive 2002-95-EC (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment). A Little Historical Perspective: Everyone knows that solder paste has long been the favorite for high volume reflow in PCB manufacturing for years. So why is it that it never made a popular transition to the electronic bench where prototyping, low volume production, and rework are performed daily? Essentially there were two reasons:

1.) Use of paste with old soldering irons was problematic, if not simply prohibitive; and 2.) Most all solder pastes or creams typical of high volume production processes are limited by very short shelf life due to the flux/sphere ratios which were necessary for conveyor oven reflow systems.

And still the fact is: Solder joints made with solder paste are almost always superior to those made by solder wire -- especially with SMD's.  Accordingly, we set out to develop a no-clean paste with six month shelf life that did not require refrigeration and that would be specifically targeted for the electronic bench.

Moreover, we had to formulate a solder paste that would work harmoniously with a low-velocity, non-contact hot air pencil.  And we did it! (See the video of a live demonstration of reflow soldering with solder paste and a hot air pencil.
