How to Solder & De-Solder  & Preheat BGA's, SMD's, QFN's & More.

Video: BGA DeSoldering & Removal Demonstration With NASA Commentary:  This short, but superb video demonstrates how easy it is to de-solder and remove any Ball Grid Array device in less than 5 minutes and introduces the ZT-7000 Comprehensive BGA, SMD, QFN Hot Air Benchtop System. Thermal profiling is taught including ramping, preheating, soaking and final reflow and removal of a BGA, QFN, CSP or any SMT device. The demonstration includes board prep before rework including fluxing, aligning, the desoldering process and cleaning the PCB after chip removal.

The video also touches on quality inspection of the PCB after rework. The viewer witnesses the BGA's solder reflow as it actually lifts off the PCB!  Additional photographs and observations from NASA are included in this helpful video. After the video, visit our ZT-7000 Product Page for greater details and specifications on this amazing system.

Video Duration: 10 minutes.

Video: SMD Placement & Soldering With a Hot Air Pencil & Solder Paste. This short video familiarizes the viewer with an actual placing and soldering of an SMD device using a ZT-2 Hot AirPencil and Solder Paste. (Note: This video shows the traditional 63/37 solder paste, but the RoHS lead-free alloys also work just as well. Importance of Ramping, Preparing the PCB, Applying Solder Paste, Hot Air Reflow of the SMD, Clean-Up & Inspection.  For those interested is "seeing" how easy it is to use solder paste at the bench instead of solder wire, this is the video demonstrations that you've been waiting for.

And you will like this: all equipment, tools and supplies shown in the video are included in any of our popular Zephyrtronics Systems.   Video Duration: 5 minutes.

Video: Low Cost SMD Removal Below 150°C in Less Than 3 Minutes!  This short video demonstrates how to de-solder and remove any SMD device in less than 3 minutes through the synergistic combination of LowMelt® DeSolder Wire and the AirBath Preheating Systems. Now any technician can confidently remove any SMT component (QFP's, PLCC's, SOIC's SOL's SOJ's SMD Sockets) without expensive and individualized, specialty nozzles and at only 150°C!

Learn how to remove any chip quickly without ever burning a board, lifting a pad or damaging your

component. Just more of the exciting Science of Zephyrtronics™ that is now utilized daily by NASA, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard and the Department of Defense. After the video, visit our Systems Guide & Directory for greater details and specifications.  Video Duration: 5 minutes.

Video: The Science of High Quality, Low Temp Soldering & De-Soldering at the Bench: This video is an introduction to essential benchtop tools and to the break-through, low temperature approach and theory behind the Zephyrtronics systems.  In this video you will learn about the science that has allowed technicians all over the world to successfully place, remove, rework and repair innumerable SMD's and Thru-Hole Devices including ceramic capacitors, glass diodes, flex circuits and resistors without ever damaging the substrate, its pads, traces or the chips.  Damage-free processing PCB's at the bench is achievable when the "science" is on your side!

Using animation and useful charts, the video teaches the three critical thermal zones that encompass nearly every PCB assembly during its production and how those same three zones relate to all processing of PCB's at the bench whether in prototyping and design, rework and repair, or even in low volume production runs. After the video, visit our Systems Guide & Directory for greater details and specifications.  Video Duration: 9 minutes.

Video: The Four Methods of Preheating Printed Circuit Board Assy's: This helpful and comparative video juxtaposes the four current methods of preheating printed circuit board assemblies (PCB's) and spotlights the drawbacks and advantages of some methods over others. The viewer will see the use of hot plates, infrared (IR) preheating, industrial ovens and the more popular bottom-side forced convection (AirBaths™) along with charts and graphs that showcase the distinctions between these methods.

The video clearly demonstrates why the bottom-side, forced convection method became the first choice of electronic manufacturers around the globe, why it is more effective and better suited to PCB prototyping, rework and low volume production runs.  Video Duration: 9 minutes.

Video: ABC Key Advantages: This helpful and comparative video details the many advantages, utilities and the unparalleled versatility of our ABC Series of Adjustable Board Cradles over all other PC Board fixtures and holders. This is a truth-telling video that pulls no punches and demonstrates the serious pitfalls and limitations of other inferior approaches and how they actually punish the PCB technician, waste time (money) and hurt productivity at the benchtop during PCB prototyping, rework and repair.

The short video spotlights the eyebrow-raising and uncanny amount of multiple functions and utilities that have made the ABC Series the most popular PC board fixtures on the planet for nearly twenty years. There's a lot more than just meets the eye when it comes to the amazing and transforming ABC Adjustable Board Cradles. Check out the video. You'll be impressed.  Video Duration: 4 minutes.
